Right... so I've had All You Need Is Now for a week now... and I've been playing it once a day every day, pretty much... and I'm afraid I have to say it.

I'm disappointed.

The reason I've been playing it every day is not that I love it; I've been trying to find something, anything to hang my hat on. So far, the best thing I can say is I like the chorus to the title track.

I don't hate the album; on the contrary, I can't find anything to actively hate (well, apart from the keyboards in the title track--dear gods, that's annoying!). My general reaction to the CD is a big "meh."

I want to like it; hell, I want to love it. Everyone seems to be raving about it.

But I just... every song sounds the same. I honestly can't tell one from another, even after a week's steady musical diet of it. It's like having pizza every day for dinner--one day it's pepperoni, another day it's cheese, another day it's vegetarian, but in the end, it's still all pizza.

I haven't even listened to all the songs yet. Maybe there'll be something there that I like, but from what I've heard so far, I'll be surprised. I hate that our favourite band have made a sucky record. Even the last record was less sucky than this, and that was pretty much their suckiest to date.

I hate to admit it, but I don't think they'll ever be a good band til they get another Andy or Warren.

I don't have much spare money, so I'll be giving this one a pass, I think. Right up to RCM, I was holding onto my "completeist" thing, but I regretted that purchase very much, and won't saddle myself with yet another CD I won't listen to.

I fully support people making art and music and such in the way that they are inspired to do so. I just don't think what they have been inspired to do these last 10 years has really been my cuppa tea. There's a lot of great music out there, so I'll just focus on that.
